Shrink Wrap UK has opened a base in Malta. Shrink Wrap Malta brings the same crews, the same methods and the same standard of work to the islands’ marinas, yards and harbours — with a team on the ground in the middle of the Mediterranean.
Who Shrink Wrap UK are
Shrink Wrap UK has been wrapping the hard stuff for over a decade. The company has completed more than 6,500 projects for over 1,000 commercial and industrial clients, across scaffolding, marine, industrial, transport and aviation work in the UK and Europe. Its crews have encapsulated scaffolds on London streets, covered yachts for winter on the south coast, and wrapped a 17-metre tender in Scotland for shipment to join its superyacht in Hawaii.
That breadth matters. A crew that has wrapped everything from a garden-scale scaffold to a full commercial encapsulation knows how film behaves, how frames carry wind load, and how a cover has to be built to come off clean months later.
Why Malta
Malta sits in the middle of the Mediterranean, with some of the region’s busiest marinas and yards packed into a few square kilometres of harbour. Superyachts winter in Grand Harbour; hundreds of private boats stay afloat in Msida and Ta’ Xbiex; the yards at Manoel Island, Kalkara and Marsa are full of boats on the hard from autumn to spring; and the Freeport ships boats in and out of the island all year. See the marinas and harbours we cover.
All of that needs protecting — and the Maltese climate asks different questions from a British winter. Sun, salt and Saharan dust do more harm here than rain and frost, which is why Shrink Wrap Malta’s covers are specified for heat, UV and ventilation first.
What stays the same
Everything that made the UK business work comes with it. Every job starts with a survey and a fixed price in writing. Every cover is framed, welded into one skin, vented and finished with doors where people need access. Fire-retardant film is available for containment and scaffold work. And when the job is done, the film comes off and leaves with the crew.
What’s new
A base in Malta, a direct line and WhatsApp to the same team, and crews who can be at a Msida pontoon, a Manoel Island cradle or a Mġarr berth without anyone flying in. The service is weighted towards what Malta needs most: yachts and superyachts, boats and small craft, refit containment, transport and shipping covers, and lay-up through both winter and summer.
Shrink Wrap Malta is also building its local team and partner network, and offering shrink wrap training for yards, marinas and contractors that want to do their own wrapping properly.
